Dumbo, Brooklyn Engagement | NYC Wedding Photographer Jeff Brummett
Dumbo, Brooklyn Engagement Session
As a NYC elopement and wedding photographer, I love the Dumbo area. This Brooklyn neighborhood is perfect for an engagement session! It’s located between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges right on the East River. The name Dumbo means “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.” The area is full of charming red brick industrial buildings and Belgian block roads. It’s also home to some great parks with amazing views. Brooklyn Bridge Park, Main Street Park, and Empire Fulton Fairy Park, to name a few. No wonder Dumbo is a favorite for NYC elopement and engagement photography!
This session, with Sarah & DJ, was so much fun! I wanted to start out with a classic shot of the Manhattan bridge. However, it was so busy (thanks Instagram!) that all I could get was a silhouette image. We found plenty of hidden gems though. These included gorgeous golden sunlight, Belgian block streets, and a hipster approved bus. There are so many icon photo ops in Dumbo but I prefer the these street scenes. Sarah’s red hair looked like it was on fire in the evening light, which is always a good thing. As usual, it’s more about capturing the journey than any pre planned images.
Old Pier 1
We ended things by walking down to Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Old Pier 1. It’s one of my favorite views of the downtown Manhattan skyline. We fought for space with the landscape photographers shooting time lapses. You’d never know it from the way these two looked. The sunset was amazing and everyone was buzzing from such a perfect summer evening. That’s why this will always be one of the best spots for NYC elopement and engagement photos!
